Pelicans Class (JJ/Year 5)

Welcome to our Year 5 page!

It's so great to have you back at school and to see you back at SMA. The staff and I have been enjoying seeing you all.

You have all been trying very hard and putting a lot of effort into your work already (even after six months away from school).  I am super proud of you Year 5!

Keep checking our page for regular updates.

If your parents/carers have any questions or need to contact me, email the school office and include our class name (Pelicans/JJ) or my name and it will be forwarded to me.

Stay safe

Miss O'Brien

Science Homework - 18.09.20

Due Date: Monday 21st September 2020

The Peppered Moth

Our Science unit of study this term is ‘Evolution and inheritance.’ The evolution of the peppered moth has been studied in detail over the last 150 years. At first, almost all of the moths were light coloured, however overtime the population of moths became darker in colouring.

We want you to investigate why these changes happened. Please use the questions on the sheet below to guide you in your research.

You can present your information as an information leaflet, a word document or complete it in your homework book. You will need to use the internet to help you find the information. You may want to add some pictures to your work. Please try and complete your work independently. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to bring your work in to be marked.

Homework - Friday 11th September 2020

Due Date: Monday 14th September 2020

Hi Year 5,

This weekend I would like you to check that your log-ins still work for Bug Club and Mathletics. In the future I will be setting tasks for you. This weekend I would like you to:

1. Log in to Bug Club and read some books of your choice. Have a go answering the comprehension questions that go with them (click on the bug picture on each page). Don't forget that you can also play spelling and grammar games on Bug Club!

2. Log in to Mathletics and play some fun maths games

If you have any issues with your log-ins, please let me know on Monday and I will fix it for you.

Have a great weekend!

Miss O'Brien
