Our reading area reflects the theme of conservation and is based on the poem 'Leave the whales alone, please!' which we recited for the whole school on National Poetry Day.  The children did some research into the importance of looking after our oceans and made fish and jellyfish out of recycled bottles, which reminds us not to litter, and to throw away as little as possible because it could end up in our oceans. Our class books are arranged by topic, such as; sporty, classic and adventure. This way the children can find and choose a book that really interests them. If they are still unsure each member of our class has written a recommendation, so others can read their favourites. We currently have a Black History Month section as well as a section on inventions, our current topics. The children in Herons class can alwaays take their favourite book to the calm area at the back of the room, and settle down in our underwater paradise.
