Welcome to Swifts Class 2024 2025
Year 3
Autumn Term 1: A Wonderful Start to the New Academic Year
It has been a brilliant start to the new academic year in Year 3, Swifts. The energy and enthusiasm from the children have created a vibrant atmosphere within the classroom. It has been a joy watching all the children settle into Year 3 and they have already done some amazing things! It has been amazing to see everyone so eager to engage in all areas of their learning. This term, Swifts have enjoyed a range of new and exciting activities such as ‘Get Online Week’. The children all enjoyed using the app ‘Clips’ on an iPad to make adverts about ‘The Stone Age’. They all collaborated brilliantly and produced amazing pieces of work.
We are looking forward to all the fun we will have next term. Here are a few key dates for next term, that we would like to remind you of:
Firstly, we are also looking forward to welcoming all our wonderful parents into school to see our prayer service on Friday 8th November 2024.
We are also looking forward to our first trip to Forest School for this academic year. This will be taking place on Wednesday 13th November 2024 and will be our first time going all day.
Finally, we are looking forward to our first Carol Concert on Thursday 5th December 2024.
I wish you all a lovely half term holiday and I look forward to seeing you on Monday 4th November 2024 for another exciting term.
Natural History Museum Excursion
Year 3 and Year 4 had the most fantastic time visiting the Natural History Museum to kick start our topic on Volcanoes. We were amazed at the different types of rocks and we had the opportunity to look in detail at so many different fossils, found out all about volcanoes and even got to experience what an earthquake would feel like. What a trip!

Autumn Term 2: Christmas 2024
It has been a busy term in Year 3, Swifts. We have embarked on another exciting and busy term filled with new experiences and opportunities. From our first Forest School of the year to Christmas Jumper Day, this term has been both enriching and memorable for us all.
We have tried so many new things this term and we are super excited to share them with you. We started off this term by welcoming our families to our brilliant Prayer Service all about Remembrance Day. We also got to enjoy our first trip to Forest School where we explored a new location, identified and named a range of leaves before we created our own artwork based on our favourite findings.
Throughout the term, we have taken part in some school events which have brought us together. We all really enjoyed displaying all we have learnt about Jesus' birth during the Key Stage 2 Carol Concert, which we got to participate in for the first time. We also loved Christmas Jumper Day, where we got to show off our amazing Christmas Jumpers and raise money for Save the Children. The jumpers really brightened up our classroom!
As this busy term comes to an end for Christmas, I want to wish you all a lovely Christmas break and I look forward to seeing you again on Tuesday 7th January 2025, for what we hope will be an exciting start to the New Year!
