Safer Internet Day 2017

Tuesday 7th February is Safer Internet Day. In school, teachers will be using the resources provided by the UK based Safer Internet Centre in lessons and for our workshops for parents and carers. We can all play a role in empowering children to enjoy their time online safely. Please click on the Safer Internet Centre link for more information.

Be the change: Unite for a better internet

This year’s theme is 'Be the change: Unite for a better internet'. This theme has been chosen as an empowering message to all internet users and young people to use the internet positively and safely, with consideration and respect for others.

The sub-theme for the UK is ‘The Power of Image’, focusing on the ways that we use images and videos online to communicate and share messages, to entertain and to learn.

The power of image

Images can empower young people to build their online reputation, to spread positivity and to communicate respectively. However, what they see online has the potential to negatively affect young people.

Through our workshops on Safer Internet Day we aim to provide parents and carers with practical advice on how they can support their child to be safe and positive online.
