Chicks in class!

We were learning all about the lifecycle of a chick and were so lucky to have chicks hatch in class! We got to hold the baby chicks and look after them for the last two weeks. The chicks are now leaving school and going home with Mrs Mourino to her allotment.

Easter Bonnet Parade

The Easter Bonnet Parade takes place in the playground on Wednesday 30th of March at 2:45. Your child can make and decorate their easter bonnet for the parade which is a lovely reminder of spring, new life and the joy of Easter. Here is an example of an Easter Bonnet.

STEAM WEEK

St Mary of the Angels have been celebrating STEAM week which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths. This year's British Science Week theme is 'growth'. We have found examples of growth within all subjects around us, making it an excellent starting point for a celebration of SCIENCE. Continue sending in your posters based on this theme for our school competition. Your poster could explore a tadpole's journey into a fully grown adult frog or a seed's growth journey into a beautiful flower. We are looking forward to seeing your ideas!

More photos to follow.

World Book Day

The Ducklings had a fantastic day on Thursday celebrating World Book Day. We had lots of fun activities throughout the day and everyones costumes were amazing! We ended the day with a whole school Parade showing off all our lovely costumes.

Growing

As we are coming into spring we have turned our mud kitchen into a gardening centre for the children to learn about planting and growing. The children have planted some herbs such as Thyme, Oregano, Chives and much more. We will keep you updated on how our herbs grow over the next few weeks!

Growing a Magic Beanstalk

We have been so excited to watch our beanstalks grow taller and taller. We can see the roots and the steams starting to grow. I wonder how tall they will be after half term.

Friday, 28th January

Hello Parents and Carers,

We hope you liked our Starry Night display. We've had lots of visitors from around the school coming to look at it who are very impressed with our Foundation Stages work. This week we have learnt about Simeon and Anna from the Bible. Simeon and Anna met the baby Jesus in the Temple and thanked God for sending his son to Earth. We acted out the story and said how we could be 'the light of the world' just like Jesus. We looked at old fashioned toys, just like the ball and cup. In the 'olden days' people used materials such as wood and string to make their toys. We followed step by step instructions to make our own ball and cup game. You could have a go at making your own one at home. Why not tell your family how you made it.

Have a great weekend,

Mrs Moruzzi

Duckling Update

The Duckling have become artists this week.

We have continued to look at the artist Vincent Van Gogh and his amazing artwork. With the weather being chilly outside we wanted to bring a bit of ‘sun’ into the classroom with our beautiful Sunflower paintings. I think we did an amazing job.

Click here to watch a beautiful animated video of Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night.
