Class P's Home Learning Activities
Good morning, Class P,
Today’s fun fact:
Did you know that cows can walk upstairs but they can't walk downstairs?
I hope you have enjoyed your first English task this week. I have already had one piece of work sent to me via J2Write which I loved reading. Thank you, Aaron for brightening my day! I am happy to read and make comments on any work you send me. I miss reading all of your fantastic writing! Don't forget that you can find this week's learning on the Letter Writing PowerPoint under the English section of our page.
Make sure you take a look at each section for any new learning I have put up each day. Today I have added a Geography section and would like you to create a poster that convinces me to protect the animals and plants in our world.
Scroll down to the reading section to find your Book Talk for the day. I have attached a document that contains a picture of two tigers. Take a good look at the picture then answer the questions below it.
Remember that Joe Wicks holds a PE session every day at 9am. This is a great way to get your brains started. I took part yesterday at school and it definitely provides a good workout! I have also allocated books and maths for you on Bug Club and Mathletics. Your log ons for these should be in your reading records.
Don't forget storytime at 3pm. If you can, I would like for you to listen and read along to 'The Dragon Machine' by Helen Ward . Click the picture of the book to find it.
I hope you have a great day!

Art
After the national clapping for the NHS workers on Thursday night I was inspired to create a piece of artwork for my window to thank all of the key workers who walk past it for their continued service.
Finger Knitting
On our page I have linked a video for you to try finger knitting. Not only is it a fun activity, it is also a great way of strengthing your hands. After learning how to finger knit I got carried away and made some butterflies. Have a go and show me what you can make!
Resources For All Learners
Dear Parents/Carers,

Please take some time to look at the document below. We have included a brief description of each website, as well as the age range we believe it is best suited to.
Thank you for your continued support, care and love for the school, staff, children and community.

Class P's Learning Timetable
Class P - I've made a timetable to help you in your learning. I know how much you enjoy following our daily timetable at school and reminding me if I forget to change it!
However, it's important to remember this is just a guide. Talk to your adult and decide what is best for you and how much you can achieve each day.
If you are seeing this on a computer you can download and adapt the timetable to suit you. If you have a printer why not print it off so that you can change it yourself? Remember to have lots of movement breaks and brain breaks. Don't forget you need brain food too!
If you would like to make your own daily timetable you can subscribe to widgit and make one through the website. You can sign up to a 21 Day free trial by clicking this link Widgit Online

Week 2- Day 2
You will need to find Week 1 Day 2 following this link: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/
Once you have watched that video go through the PowerPoint attached below.
Following this I would like you to complete the worksheet attached below. The answers for these are on the White Rose website next to the video you watched.
Like yesterday, if you would like to go through more questions I have attached an extension worksheet document. This gets harder as it goes through. Only complete what you have time for/what you feel you are capable of doing. Remember that we all learn differently so if you are struggling with it do not worry! You should only spend around 30 minutes in total on an activity. After that stop what you are doing and start doing something fun!

Once you have watched that video go through the PowerPoint attached below.

Geography
During our Geography topic this term we have been learning about Our Local Area. Today I would like you to create a poster for how we can protect our animals and plants. Learn more about this topic by clicking on the picture. Take a photo of your creation and upload it onto J2Write or create it on Busy Things and save it for me to look at! Can you really WOW me by learning what the word protection means and using it in your poster?
Science
Learn all about plants and animals in the local environment following this link: http://ve12.lgfl.org.uk/ or log onto My USO and search for Year 1's Virtual Experiments to find the correct page.
Spellings
During phonics we have been struggling to identify some of the trickier trigraphs. This is why the next few weeks of spellings will re-cap these sounds. Choose 4, 6, 8, or 10 spellings to learn and ask an adult to test you each Wednesday at the back of your spelling book- just like we would in school. I have also included some visuals at the bottom of the page to help you learn the meaning of each word.

Then have a go at making a Romero cross, but for your family. You could use this to help you pray at home too. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Morning Surprise!
Imagine that you have just walked into your kitchen to find this!
Yesterday, I asked you to role play the conversation you might have with the octopus and write it down.
Today, I'd like you to write your answers down to these questions:
- How did the octopus get here?
- Why is it wearing a hat?
- Is it speaking your language? Do you understand what it’s saying?
- Where did the plants come from?
Try to make your answers as exciting as possible!
It's Raining Cats and Dogs!
You might have heard the saying, “It’s raining cats and dogs.” If you could make it rain any two things you wanted, what would you choose?
• Write about your special rainstorm. What would be falling from the clouds and why?
• Draw a picture of it and remember to label it!
Happy Birthday!
Did you know you share your birthday with around 18 million people in the world! That's a whole lot of cake!!
Research the date of your birthday - what significant events have taken place that day?
Then, either using the sheet attached or your blue books - write about it!
